Flavio Bolsonaro Flees Brazil for Miami Amid Money-Laundering Probe
Senator Flavio Bolsonaro touched down in Miami, Florida, having just lost Sunday’s presidential race to incumbent Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. His family is with him. The United States government issued entry visas for the group. This happened after Flavio refused to hand over his passports, defying a direct order from Brazil’s Supreme Court.
That court order stemmed from a money-laundering investigation. Flavio denies any wrongdoing. The journey itself has drawn sharp eyes across the region. According to Argentina’s migration authority, the family fled Brazil first, heading to Argentina and then Ecuador. They traveled with his wife and two daughters.
Argentina’s migration department reports they entered northern Argentina late Tuesday night. From there, they boarded a private jet for Guayaquil, Ecuador. The final leg took them to Miami. This story is still unfolding.
