FBI extraditions Alexis Flores after decade-long pursuit for child murder

Aug 31, 2026 •Crime

The FBI officially secured the extradition of Alexis Flores, a Honduran national wanted for more than 25 years, following his arrest in Honduras earlier this year. He faces charges regarding the alleged rape and murder of five-year-old Iriana DeJesus in Philadelphia back in 2000. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the details via statement on Monday.

Patel called Flores a high-value target brought back by the bureau after an anti-gang transnational task force arrested him in February. The agent noted that time and distance cannot shield violent offenders from justice anymore. This move follows nearly 70 similar extraditions conducted since June under the current administration. Patel thanked overseas partners, the Department of Justice, and FBI teams for their work.

Flores had been removed from the top ten most wanted list in March 2025 because the Honduran government refused extradition based on local laws limiting such transfers. Authorities in Philadelphia celebrated this arrest after apprehending him in Honduras earlier this year. Wayne Jacobs, special agent in charge of FBI Philadelphia, stated that time does not diminish their resolve. He described the case as the culmination of 25 years of tireless investigative effort and strong partnerships across departments.

This development comes just weeks after capturing Gregory Henderson Jr., a most wanted fugitive linked to Indianapolis gangs. Henderson was added to the list three days before his capture while offering a reward up to $1 million. The forty-six-year-old had evaded arrest since an August 2023 federal takedown of his alleged organization. He faces charges including conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances and conspiracy to engage in animal fighting ventures.

Federal allegations claim Henderson led a violent Indianapolis gang whose drug trafficking network was supplied by the Sinaloa Cartel. His group distributed methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl throughout Indianapolis and the surrounding Midwest region. Fox News reporter Brittany Miller contributed to this report on the breaking developments.
