FBI Documents Reveal Silent Black Triangular Object Hovering Over Mountains

Oct 25, 2026 •News

Newly released Department of War documents reveal that FBI agents witnessed a mysterious black triangular object hovering silently above a mountain ridge before suddenly accelerating at speeds comparable to a fighter jet. This startling event from 2026 is just one incident among many detailed in records examining unidentified anomalous phenomena, alongside decades-old military encounters and reports of mysterious creatures, unexplained lights, and supposed portals at a Utah ranch.

One specific FBI report describes an encounter with a dark, nonreflective triangular object resembling a drone, featuring an estimated wingspan of 9 to 15 feet and lacking any visible exhaust or conventional propulsion system. Agents reported seeing the object rise vertically above a ridgeline before accelerating into a canyon without making a sound. A separate report from the Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office offers a more detailed account of the encounter, describing a matte-black triangular object that climbed about 200 to 300 feet above a ridgeline.

This object hovered for roughly 20 seconds and then appeared to accelerate almost instantly, disappearing into a canyon within two to three seconds. Witnesses described an object with no visible engines, rotors, exhaust, or other conventional aircraft features. The agents also reported observing a uniform heat signature across the object's surface through handheld thermal equipment, without the concentrated hot spots typically associated with propulsion systems. The Pentagon report notes that the object's speed was estimated by witnesses rather than measured by instruments.

The two reports differ on the length of the encounter. The FBI described a sighting lasting approximately three seconds, while AARO detailed about 10 seconds of vertical ascent, 20 seconds of hovering, and another two to three seconds of rapid flight before the object disappeared. Neither report identifies the object or establishes its origin. Fox News Digital has contacted AARO for comment on the sighting, including whether the object has since been identified and whether images released with the FBI report show the actual encounter or are illustrations.

The newly released records also include an Air Force intelligence report dated Jan. 19, 1957, detailing an unidentified radar contact involving a U.S. B-52 bomber during a Strategic Air Command mission near Saudi Arabia. The bomber was flying at about 39,000 feet when its radar detected an unidentified target roughly 6,000 yards away on Jan.

On August 18 and 19, 1957, a radar contact held its position on an aircraft screen for five to seven minutes before vanishing as the bomber banked left. Air Force investigators pointed out that no other planes were scheduled in the sector yet admitted the target could have simply dropped off the display because of that sharp turn.

Historical logs also track sightings near California's Santa Catalina Island. One specific case involves three Boy Scouts at summer camp who claimed to see a silent, silver object moving faster than a standard jet while they hiked on the island on June 25, 1952. The scouts said the shape climbed in a steep turn before seemingly breaking apart into nothingness, according to an Air Force intelligence report.

Officials noted these teenagers had no gear to measure speed or height and their lack of experience made judging the story's reliability tricky. A different file from March 15, 1955, tells of a witness near Avalon who spotted a bright, round object shifting from orange to red before dropping straight down. The Air Force later labeled that event a probable meteor.

A massive 60-page investigation took place in 2010 under Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies at a Utah ranch linked to strange reports. Researchers talked with locals describing towering dog-like figures walking on two legs, floating balls of light, and other odd sights. Other witnesses spoke of smaller, hairy creatures, a bird that looked prehistoric, and a worm said to be eight feet long. One person described seeing a transparent, rippling structure she thought led to another world.

The study gathered eyewitness sketches, footage from surveillance cameras, environmental readings, and hair samples found near where people claimed to see these creatures. Lab tests on the hair showed they came from normal animals like domestic dogs and raccoons. The report failed to prove these alleged beasts or other extraordinary events existed. Fox News Digital asked the FBI for a statement but received no further comment in this piece.
