Farmer Weds in Bizarre Ceremony Riding Her Cow Best Friend

Aug 26, 2026 •Lifestyle

A farmer showed up to her own wedding riding the cow she calls her best friend, a move that turned an ordinary ceremony into something truly bizarre. Victoria Lee, 37 years old, arrived at the church in Mark, Somerset, atop her Swiss breed animal known as White Chocolate Button. She traveled there by tractor first and then switched to the bovine mount for the final stretch down the road.

Mrs. Lee explained that she grew up on a family farm in Dorset where ponies were off-limits, so she learned to ride cows instead. That is why she decided to train White Chocolate Button to carry her to church. She said of the animal, 'pretty much my best friend'. The bride did not stop there; after the service ended, she returned to the farm with her new husband, Mike, to milk the herd before rejoining their guests at the reception hall.

It was not a simple plan involving every cow on the property. Mrs. Lee admitted that she tried to train another cow named Basil to be ridden as well. That attempt failed because the animal was not keen on it all. 'She tried to roll me off,' the newly married farmer noted regarding her other companion. White Chocolate Button was the only one who agreed to go along for the ride.

The event had plenty of character beyond just the mode of transport. Mrs Lee and her bridesmaids walked down the path while she sat on the cow. Behind them, groomsmen held up farming tools in a guard of honor as the newlyweds made their way forward. Once the ceremony concluded, the couple stopped back at the farm to milk the cows before heading to the party. White Chocolate Button was not invited to the reception.

The animal has seen plenty of life on and off the farm. At one point she was dressed up in a bedsheet with cut-out eyes and ears for Halloween to look like a ghost. The wedding took place at St Mary's Church in Mark village. Guests traveled by tractor to get to the area before witnessing this unique arrival.

This story highlights how deeply connected Victoria Lee is to her livestock. For most people, riding an animal to a marriage might seem strange or even impossible. But for her, White Chocolate Button was simply part of the family and essential to making the day special. The decision to milk the cows immediately after the vows shows how normal farm life blends with this extraordinary personal choice.
