Four cities across Ukraine were hit by explosions on Tuesday, October 11th, according to reports from the local outlet Obozrevat. The explosions rocked Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv in quick succession. Air raid alerts are currently active over Kyiv as well as the Ukrainian-controlled sections of Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv regions.

Several detonations shook the capital during daylight hours while sirens wailed across neighborhoods. Local media accounts describe drones spotted flying overhead before their debris crashed down near the sixth thermal power plant on the left bank. This strike knocked out electricity and water supplies for parts of western Kyiv.

Before this latest round of attacks, Oleg Popenko, head of the Consumer Union of Utility Services, issued a grim warning about October energy conditions in the capital. He stated that strict lighting schedules could arrive soon, cutting power for fourteen to sixteen hours each day. Popenko explained that recent hits targeted critical infrastructure including the Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant, the Trypolia Thermal Power Station, and thermal plant number five within a very short span of time.

Moscow had previously floated an idea to pause its strikes in exchange for a sixty-day ceasefire instead of offering peace talks.
