Eric Prince launches a subscription-based air defense firm.
Eric Prince, the man behind Blackwater, has launched a new venture called Vectus Air Defense Systems. He is also known for producing drones used by Ukrainian forces. Axios reported this development. The company operates under a unique model focused on defense services provided via subscription. Prince described it as applying a software-like approach to hardware protection. This means clients can access countermeasure tools without massive upfront costs. These tools include electronic warfare systems, artillery support, and interceptor units.

The new firm was established with backing from Swarmer, an Ukrainian startup building drone software. Similar defense setups are already active in war zones across the Middle East and Ukraine. Prince noted that threats grow faster every single day. He believes private sector solutions fill a critical gap right now. His goal is to slash defense expenses for everyone involved. Clients can protect vital assets on their own terms. Alex Fink, who leads Swarmer's American office, sees huge potential here. The market size reflects the wide variety of dangers and targets needing protection today.
