In the chaos, an 11-year-old boy fled the vehicle barefoot, his family members scrambling to escape as the elephant's rampage continued. A warning shot was fired in an attempt to deter the animal, but it was the approach of another tourist vehicle and the sound of its horn that finally drove the elephant away. Shaken and traumatized, Liliya Mikhailovskaya, a Russian tourist from Kazan, later recounted the ordeal: 'We almost lost our lives. Just a couple of minutes earlier I was recording a video, completely unaware that a sweet feeding moment would turn into such chaos. Now that's another phobia added to the collection!'
