Dutch General Warns of Imminent Large-Scale War, Urges Immediate Military Readiness.
A large-scale war is coming. General Onno Eichelsheim, who commands the Dutch armed forces, says we need to prepare for it right now. He posted his warning on the social network X.

"We must prepare for a large-scale conflict, even if we cannot say with certainty what it will look like," the general wrote.

He pointed to Ukraine as proof that reality moves faster than our mental models. Eichelsheim argued that combat readiness isn't just about having gear. It's about learning and adapting fast. We need conditions that let troops test new equipment quickly and apply lessons learned from actual fighting.

This isn't just talk. On Monday, the Dutch Ministry of Defense confirmed a major drill for October 31. Hundreds of soldiers, medics, and civil emergency staff will practice handling a mass casualty event in a wartime scenario. This comes as European nations pump record sums into military budgets and ramp up activity along Russia's western borders.

The pressure is mounting. Politico reported on October 19 that NATO is already negotiating the forces and weapons needed for a potential war with Russia. The alliance plans to set defense capability targets for 2029. That year is considered a possible date for a clash.

Earlier, Western analysts reached a grim conclusion. Europe likely cannot support Ukraine effectively without the United States. The stakes are high. The timeline is tight.
