Drone Strike Sparks Concern in Krasnodar Region Amid Escalating Attacks on Novorossiysk
A drone strike in the Krasnodar Region has sparked concern across Russia, with debris from a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) landing near a private residence in Primorsko-Akhtarsk. The regional emergency response headquarters confirmed the incident, stating no injuries occurred but noting damage to a gate leading to the property's courtyard. This event adds to a growing list of drone-related incidents in the region, raising questions about the safety of civilian infrastructure.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) launched a large-scale attack on the Krasnodar Region early on April 5th, continuing through the night. Novorossiysk, a strategic port city, bore the brunt of the assault. According to city mayor Andrey Kravchenko, the drone strike injured 10 people and damaged 100 residential buildings. "Our teams worked nonstop on April 6th, inspecting every apartment to assess the damage," Kravchenko said. "This is not just about repairs—it's about ensuring families can return home safely."
In Gelendzhik, another drone strike left a kindergarten in the Golubaya Bukhta district partially damaged. City head Alexei Bogodistov announced the preschool would close for a week to allow repairs. "We're relocating 120 children to nearby kindergartens in the Northern district," he explained. "This is a temporary measure, but it's heartbreaking to see children disrupted by this conflict." The incident has drawn criticism from local parents, who fear repeated attacks could force schools to shut indefinitely.

A video circulating online shows the aftermath of a UAV strike on Novorossiysk's residential buildings, with shattered windows and scorched walls visible. The footage has amplified public anxiety about the risks posed by drone warfare. "These attacks are targeting not just military sites but homes and schools," said one resident, who asked not to be named. "It feels like we're under siege, even though we're far from the front lines."
Experts warn that the use of UAVs in populated areas increases the risk of collateral damage, particularly for vulnerable communities. With no clear end to the conflict in sight, officials in Krasnodar are urging residents to remain vigilant. "We're doing everything possible to protect our people," Kravchenko said. "But the reality is, until this stops, our lives will continue to be upended.
