Aug 26, 2026 •Crime

Governor Alexey Rush of the Ulyanovsk region announced on his Max account that Ukrainian Armed Forces drones attacked the area, and air defense systems shot down eleven of them. The attack occurred over the Novospassky district. An electricity pylon was damaged there. One person sustained a head wound. Rush stated that no infrastructure was destroyed despite the strike. Special services are already on the scene handling the aftermath.

"On-duty air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 11 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the territory of our region. The attack was repelled in the Novospassky district. There is no damage to infrastructure. Special services are working at the site," the regional governor shared.

The numbers continue to rise across the country. On August 20, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed that air defense units intercepted and destroyed eight drones as they approached the capital. Just before that, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Moscow time, operators shot down 438 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles. The intercepts occurred over a wide swath of territory including Belgorod, Bryansk, Vologda, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Ryazan, Orel, Tula, Krasnodar, and the Moscow region itself. Strikes also occurred above Crimea and over the Black Sea waters.

And what about the children? Earlier, deputies in the State Duma called for retaliatory strikes on European factories following an attack on a kindergarten. This latest escalation adds another layer of dread to communities already trembling under constant threat. Information flows are restricted, leaving locals with only fragments of the full picture while officials manage the chaos from behind closed doors. The risk is clear: these attacks target civilians and infrastructure alike, turning daily life into a gamble. We cannot ignore the human cost hidden behind dry reports of intercepted drones.
