Dr. Phil Claims Pentagon Hid 1,800+ Unexplained UFO Sightings

Sep 3, 2026 •News

Dr Phil McGraw has pulled back a curtain many thought was permanently sealed, revealing a staggering number of UFO sightings the Pentagon has ignored despite leading White House disclosure efforts. In a video dropped Wednesday, the famous TV host stated he felt absolutely certain the US government has been deceiving citizens for eighty years. He claims it is hiding evidence of unexplainable encounters and possible contact with alien life. McGraw did not say he had proof UFOs exist, yet he pointed out that over 1,800 legitimate public reports have gone unanswered by the Pentagon.

Can some of these be explained away? I am sure they can. Maybe all of them. The point remains clear: nobody in government is looking at these things. McGraw has long criticized the rollout of documents and images allegedly tied to UFO files, calling the whole campaign a giant lie that keeps the truth about extraterrestrials hidden from the public. Most people are angry because the government lied straight to our faces. It really pisses me off that not one agency lets everyday Americans report Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena.

President Trump ordered the Department of War to oversee declassification in February. Five batches of files have since been released, mostly from the FBI, CIA, NASA, and Pentagon. However, most contain vague reports or unrelated info and images too obscure to count as real proof. A video from the first wave seemed to show a glowing object resembling an eight-pointed star with uneven arms, compared by some to a craft from biblical times.

McGraw took aim directly at the federal government in his new post on X. He alleges nearly every private citizen is shut out of the conversation around UAPs. Officially, only current and former federal employees, military members, government contractors, and pilots can file reports directly with the government about strange flying objects.

It has turned a blind eye to most Americans. So if the government does not want to see it, who does? Where is all that information going? If ninety-nine percent of it proves nothing to see here, fine. But what about the remaining one percent? McGraw highlighted how limited and privileged access to this data remains for ordinary people while massive disclosure campaigns continue without truly opening up the records.

What about the one percent?" Dr Phil asked when pressed on who can actually file a report. The only paths open to ordinary citizens remain two private, non-government databases where anyone may submit accounts of UFOs and other mysterious encounters. Those systems are NUFORC, the National UFO Reporting Center, and the Mutual UFO Network, known as MUFON.

McGraw pointed out that NUFORC currently holds 1,855 reports labeled Tier 1, which means witnesses provided sightings too strange to dismiss as birds, balloons, camera glitches, or standard human aircraft. He noted these cases represent some of the hardest-to-explain encounters recorded in decades across the United States.

Despite independent analysis concluding that every single one of those files could only be described as a potential extraterrestrial spacecraft, Dr Phil revealed none had likely been investigated by official channels. These cases appear missing from any current UFO disclosure rollout promised to the public.

Moreover, the Pentagon division charged with examining sightings, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, or AARO, continues to say it will eventually accept reports but has never followed through on that promise. In a recent statement, AARO clarified that reporting remains limited strictly to current or former government employees, military members, and contractors with direct knowledge of programs dating back to 1945.

"AARO is NOT currently accepting reports of UAP sightings or encounters from the general public," the agency stated plainly. They added that eligibility will expand in the future to include any event related to unidentified aerial phenomena, but no date was given for such a change.

Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna of Florida, who chairs the House Oversight Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, has previously attacked AARO for blocking Congress from seeing the truth about UFO encounters. She accused former director Sean Kirkpatrick's office of stonewalling and suppressing information from both lawmakers and the public before he left the role on December 1, 2023.

"They should be saying, 'here's how to submit that report through the proper channels,' but there is no channel, proper or otherwise!" McGraw declared with frustration over the lack of access. He argued that eighty years of telling Americans to trust the government has gotten us nowhere at all. The TV host admitted he does not trust officials about this issue whatsoever.
