Celebrities Defend Macklemore After Being Booted From Ed Sheeran Tour
Pop star Macklemore is making waves with his "Free Palestine" message during Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour. The 43-year-old artist got booted from the show after facing heavy pushback for his pro-Palestine position. A handful of what some call woke celebrities stepped up to defend him. After Macklemore promised to give $1 million to Palestinian aid groups, children's YouTube star Ms. Rachel said she would match that sum and asked every wealthy White celebrity to do the same as well.

Ms. Rachel is not the only one lending public support to Macklemore either. Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton posted on social media to praise the rapper for his stand. Hamilton commented under Macklemore's Instagram post, pledging to stand in solidarity with him.

If you know anything about Hamilton, this might not surprise you at all. The 41-year-old was a major figure in the Black Lives Matter movement, especially when tensions rose after George Floyd died in 2020. He knelt during the U.S. National Anthem for every Grand Prix he entered that year while protesting it. People have seen him wear shirts supporting Black Lives Matter causes often, and he speaks loudly on LGBTQ+ issues too. Between those actions and his past remarks about Formula One's lack of diversity, since he is mixed-race and remains the only Black driver in the sport, it makes sense why he jumped so quickly to back Macklemore on this issue.

While others like Barstool founder Dave Portnoy continue to criticize the rapper for his Free Palestine messaging, many more will likely step forward from the other side of the aisle to support him soon. This is a long-standing issue that shows no signs of disappearing any time quickly.
