Cape Verde Goalkeeper Vozinha Joins Chilean Giants Colo-Colo
Cape Verde's goalkeeper Vozinha has officially joined Chilean giants Colo-Colo after his standout World Cup run made him an instant social media star. The 40-year-old says he always felt destined for a major team despite spending time in smaller leagues before the tournament. He told reporters late Tuesday that deep down, he knew he belonged at the big clubs all along.
"When Colo-Colo came calling, there was no doubt," Vozinha explained to the press. "From day one, I knew where I wanted to play." He received many offers from various sides but kept Colo-Colo as his top priority throughout the selection process. The move comes after he left Portuguese second-tier side Chaves and leaves behind a career that included stints in Angola, Cyprus, Moldova, and Slovakia.
The island nation finished second in Group H following draws against Spain, Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia before suffering a narrow defeat to Argentina in the round of 32. Vozinha played a crucial role helping them pass the group stage during their first World Cup appearance. Now he is ready to wear the colors of a massive club with a rich history that has won a record 34 Chilean top-flight titles.
"The World Cup was the best thing that ever happened to me in football, but that is in the past now," he stated clearly. "Being here representing Colo-Colo is the highlight of my club career." This transfer marks a new chapter for a player who proved his worth on the biggest stage. Fans and rivals alike will be watching closely as he takes over the net for one of South America's most historic teams.
