BYU Holds Off Arizona State Rally for 27-20 Victory
Eighth-ranked BYU held on for a 27-20 win over Arizona State, pulling away after the Sun Devils clawed back from a late third-quarter deficit. Bear Bachmeier led the Cougars with 236 passing yards and a touchdown, while Sione Moa capped the scoring drive that sealed the deal.

The game was messy from the opening drive. Jake Fette, starting for the first time in his career, fumbled on the third play. Isaiah Glasker recovered at the Sun Devil 29-yard line, handing BYU the ball in a prime position. The Cougars capitalized. Moa scooped up a fumble by Bachmeier inside the ASU one-yard line and sprinted into the end zone, putting BYU ahead 7-0.

Arizona State refused to fold. Fette threw two third-quarter touchdowns to erase a 14-point hole. On the first scoring drive, the Sun Devils converted three third downs before Omarion Miller hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass. They followed that up with two fourth-down conversions on the next possession, culminating in Anthony Miller Jr.’s one-yard reception that tied the score at 17.
BYU regained the lead for good late in the third quarter with a 45-yard field goal. The Cougars then blanked Arizona State in the fourth. With just over two minutes left, Moa punched it in from the one-yard line to put the game out of reach.

Fette finished with 166 yards and two scores, but this marks the Sun Devils' third road loss to a top-10 opponent this season. The fumble by Kyler Kasper at the BYU 39-yard line, recovered by Adrian Wilson, set up that crucial second touchdown drive for ASU.

Next week, BYU heads to Salt Lake City for an in-state matchup against Utah. Arizona State stays home in Tempe to host Colorado. Earlier Saturday, Colorado snapped its own losing streak with an overtime victory over Kansas State.
