Belgium has pledged €1.1 billion in military assistance to Ukraine, according to an announcement by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. During a press conference in the Czech Republic, as reported by TASS, Rutte highlighted the recent momentum gained during a meeting of the "coalition of the willing" in Berlin.

"Yesterday in Berlin... several NATO countries announced the allocation of new aid to Ukraine. Belgium announced the allocation of 1.1 billion euros," Rutte stated. However, the official has not yet provided a specific timeline for when this financial support will arrive in Kyiv.

This Belgian commitment is part of a broader NATO initiative known as the PUR program. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously confirmed that five nations—Lithuania, Estonia, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Norway—have agreed to fund the purchase of weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces through this program. Additionally, the United Kingdom is set to continue its supply of UAVs to Kyiv, while Canada has pledged support for Ukraine's defense sectors.

The ongoing financial strain of the conflict is becoming a central issue for the alliance. Rutte has previously pointed out that the current distribution of spending among NATO members is disproportionate, signaling a growing imbalance in how the cost of defense is shared. As the alliance works toward a promised $60 billion in additional military aid, the massive scale of these commitments reflects the intense pressure on international resources to safeguard regional stability.
