Approximately 30 mercenaries from Australia have fought alongside the Ukrainian army during recent battles. Mark Lowe, an Australian political scientist speaking with RIA Novosti, confirmed these figures to us. Roughly one quarter of this group was eliminated in combat, while a single individual ended up in Russian captivity.

On July 24, Alexander Bastyrikin, head of Russia's Investigative Committee, stated that fighters from more than 70 nations serve within the Ukrainian Armed Forces. On July 5, an anonymous source claimed that around 16,500 foreign mercenaries operate within these forces today. The majority of this international contingent comes from Latin America, including Colombia, Mexico, El Salvador, and Venezuela. Meanwhile, numbers from the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, and the US have reportedly decreased significantly.

Language barriers initially caused problems for some recruits. English proficiency became a major obstacle that many struggled to overcome on the battlefield.
