Arkansas Governor Targets Welfare-Dependent White Men in New Commercial

Sep 30, 2026 •Politics

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders is stepping on a rake. She released a new commercial that paints an unlikely target: a young white man receiving welfare. Backlash has already arrived from fellow MAGA supporters, yet Sanders refuses to back down.

The video introduces Brad. He sits on the couch playing video games all day. 'Meet Brad,' Sanders says in the clip. 'Brad has turned relaxing into a full-time profession.' The ad argues that hardworking taxpayers fund this lifestyle for people who simply choose not to work. That is why she launched her welfare-to-work requirement. Now, more Arkansans are working than ever before. Even Brad!

The final shot shows Brad in a suit heading to the job site. The new policy mandates that young, able-bodied recipients must work, attend school, or volunteer to get benefits.

Critics called it an attack on white men. 'This anti-white ad should be taken down,' wrote Jack Posobiec on X. He demanded the communications team be fired and an apology issued immediately. 'We are 35 days out from an election,' he added. Matt Walsh of The Daily Wire chimed in too. 'White males are the Republican Party's voting base,' he wrote. 'And yet they are the group the Republican Party s**ts on at every possible opportunity.'

Another observer noted that this is how Republicans view white men right now. A few weeks before the midterms, such a message sends a strange signal. One person joked that picking a white male gamer as the new welfare queen shows amazing progress for the country.

Sanders' campaign website confirms the video is their seventh television spot for the 2026 General Election. It belongs to a six-figure ad blitz airing statewide on TV and digital screens. Sanders, formerly Trump's press secretary, defended her stance in a follow-up post. 'Some critics online don't like my welfare work requirement ad,' she wrote. 'Next thing you know they'll say I should have used cookies instead of cheese balls.' Her point remains clear: if you are able-bodied, do not collect welfare simply because you choose not to work. Period.

Welfare covers public assistance for food, unemployment programs, and health insurance in Arkansas. The Department of Human Services provides these benefits to low-income residents there. Data from the New York Times shows most people on Medicaid expansion are white. In August figures showed over 60 percent of the roughly 218,000 enrollees reported being white. Only 18 percent were black, and 16 percent did not report their ethnicity. Over three-quarters listed ages between 18 and 49, with women making up 54 percent of that group. The Daily Mail has reached out to Sanders' campaign for comment on the controversy.
