Actor Robert Davi Leaves California Citing Homelessness And Corruption
Robert Davi has always stood against California's leaders and Hollywood's current path. Yet he never planned to quit the Golden State until now. The 75-year-old actor played tough guys in "The Goonies" and "Die Hard." He even faced Bond in "License to Kill." Born in Queens, New York, Davi moved to Los Angeles in 1977. His acting career took off there. He loved the lifestyle. But things changed for him.
Davi speaks up about what he calls a political blacklist in Hollywood due to his support for Donald Trump. Several breaking points pushed him to sell his home and flee to Florida. This January marks four years since he made that move with his family. Many others followed them out of the state.

"The overwhelming influx of homelessness in all communities, the political corruption and the waste of money by the local education agencies in Los Angeles that's not used for students but for administration costs, and most of that goes to the political party of their choice, and the mismanagement of the LA fires were all [contributing] factors," Davi told Fox News Digital.

"When I first came to LA, I could go to CVS and it was fine. I could go to a store. It was fine. Now they have gates, they have guards and items are behind lock and key because of the rampant crime," he added. He noted that people enter stores freely now. They take what they want without getting stopped. This is unacceptable.
Davi loved the weather and the relaxed vibe. He held on to his home hoping for better days. Crime and political trouble might have improved somehow. But one event finally broke him. On Dec. 1, 2021, Jacqueline Avant died at her Beverly Hills home. Intruders broke in and killed her.

Jacqueline was the wife of Clarence Avant, a Grammy-winning music executive. She was also the mother of Alexander Avant and Nicole Avant. Her daughter married Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix. The tragedy hit Davi hard. He watched it happen right there. This became the nail in his coffin. California was slipping into darkness. Crime spread through communities. A criminal let go three times killed a woman inside her own home.
Davi is a trained singer. He performs opera, pop, and jazz music. Fans know him for songs by Frank Sinatra. He works closely with Hollywood musicians. He pushes for teaching instruments in schools. Quincy Jones knew Davi well. Clarence Avant knew Jones too. The bond between these men matters to Davi.

He asked how California got so left-wing. He remembered Ronald Reagan running for president. Hollywood hated the actor-turned-politician then. Conservatives did not hide their beliefs back then. They spoke freely. The Screen Actors Guild was not afraid either.
Johnny Carson was fair," Davi said.

You have conservatives who were big stars speaking out and you had liberals. Since that time, liberalism has taken on another form, he explained.

Fox News Digital reached out to California Gov. Gavin Newsom's office for comment.
There is a clear shift in how things are done now. Access to information remains limited and often reserved for the privileged few. The old days of open debate seem distant compared to what we see today.
