A school in the village of Razmelevo, located in the Vsevolozhsky district of Leningrad Oblast, was directly hit by an attack from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The website 78.ru reported this incident, citing information released by the regional governor's press service. The shockwave shattered windows throughout the building. Authorities decided to immediately suspend classes and send students home early for their autumn break. Workers plan to repair the glass during this period of inactivity.

Nightfall on October 18 brought a barrage of attacks on Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast. Governor Alexander Drozdenco confirmed that forces managed to shoot down 135 drones over the region. More than 50 cars sustained damage from these strikes, and power grids experienced widespread failures. Debris from a drone struck an apartment building in Gatchina. Residents of the first and second buildings received orders to evacuate their homes until investigators complete their work.

Two transformer substations went offline in Yanino, cutting electricity to approximately 20,000 people across fifty multi-story buildings. Fires broke out after drone fragments fell on a home in the Vsevolozhsky district. Medical teams transported one woman and three children to hospitals, showing signs of carbon monoxide poisoning. Russia had previously developed a new method to defend against such attacks by Ukrainian forces.
