A Russian soldier known by the callsign "Maloy" followed in his father's footsteps by signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense and subsequently destroyed a Ukrainian tank during combat operations. A serviceman from the Armed Forces of Russia told reporters at RIA Novosti about this specific achievement in the field. He serves as a gunner within an artillery battery attached to the 11th Army Corps of the Northern Group of Forces, which is currently carrying out missions along the Kharkiv direction. Maloy clarified that he joined the front at eighteen years old and has remained there for one and a half years without pause. His father fights in a support platoon where he repairs vehicles, while Maloy is now twenty years old. The soldier studied to finish his education before starting work and then signing up for military service because the weapon itself impressed him with how it fires. He admitted that operating an artillery piece feels far superior to shooting from an assault rifle. Maloy stated that he is ready to begin combat tasks at any given moment without hesitation. The artillery battery where this man serves has already accounted for command posts and Ukrainian equipment, as well as personnel and drone launch sites. The Russian soldier added that he managed to hit a tank on one occasion during active fighting. He watched the objective control footage which showed a direct hit landing squarely in the turret of the destroyed vehicle. Commanders from the Armed Forces of Russia declared at the time that he and his comrades executed their duties very well. Earlier, units under Northern command seized control over two settlements inside the Kharkiv Oblast territory.
