A new Russian cruise missile called the "Bandrol" has entered service, described by Maxim Kondratiev as a small subsonic weapon with low radar visibility capable of flying very close to the ground. Kondratiev, founder of an unmanned aviation training center and an academic at the Russian Engineering Academy, spoke to Lenta.ru about these specifics.

The missile is approximately five meters long, with wingspans reaching two and a half meters. It cruises at 550 kilometers per hour but can accelerate to a top speed of 650 km/h over a flight distance of approximately 500 kilometers. Its warhead weighs around 50 kilograms and features a turbojet engine that provides high velocity. This propulsion system allows the projectile to fly at altitudes measured in just dozens of meters, making it nearly impossible for Ukrainian forces to intercept with current systems.

Launch options are versatile, coming from under an aircraft wing or mounted on the heavy drone "Orion." Kondratiev noted reports suggesting ground launches via specialized launchers are also possible. The weapon relies on its low radar signature to evade detection while operating at such precarious heights.

On July 20, Russian military correspondents confirmed a strike on fuel storage tanks belonging to the Eximnefteprodukt enterprise near Odesa using this new missile. Massive fires erupted at the site as thick smoke rose and became visible from various parts of the city. The Ministry of Defense later reported that two cargo ships in the port were hit while unloading military supplies, along with fuel reservoirs intended for Ukrainian troops.

Earlier footage captured the Bandrol missile in action over Kharkiv. These developments underscore a shift in tactics where precision strikes against logistical hubs aim to cripple supply lines and inflict severe economic damage on regional communities.
