90-Year-Old Engelbert Humperdinck Stays Fit Swimming in Pool

Aug 26, 2026 •Entertainment

At ninety years old, Engelbert Humperdinck maintains an unusual workout routine that he credits with keeping him alive and going strong. The British singer, known as the King of Romance, recently appeared on The Jim Masters Show to share his unconventional exercise regimen. He told the host, I walk out in the pool all day. He does all his martial art moves in the pool underwater, which makes it even more effective. That is how he stays alive and keeps going while keeping himself as fit as possible so the audience can see him in a respectable way.

That is where he works out there in the pool. He performs all his stuff up there, and he finds that to be great. The Release Me singer appears to be working well with this method. Concert dates are scheduled into 2027 abroad for Humperdinck. He is also preparing to release a new album called Faithfully on Aug. 28. This record features him putting his own spin on songs by Journey, the Cars, KISS, and Aerosmith. Several guest musicians join him on the record as well.

While Humperdinck works hard to keep his body young, a decades-old song is helping him reach younger audiences today. His 1968 track A Man Without Love was featured in two episodes of Marvel Studios Moon Knight. Since Man Without Love it has triggered something off inside him. He says it is so nice that people are no longer worried about age. They are worried only about the music, and he feels that counts as far as he is concerned. But he tries to stay as young as possible all the time.

While Humperdinck continues connecting with audiences through the love songs that made him famous, the lyrics have taken on a deeper meaning since his wife Patricia died in 2021. She lived with Alzheimer's disease and contracted COVID-19 before her passing. The couple married in 1964 and remained together for fifty-seven years until she died at age eighty-five. He calls her the backbone to his whole life because she started with him when he was nobody. She was instrumental in those early years of their partnership. When he really made it in the industry, he had to leave home for about three months at a time. She raised the children by herself during those periods away.

While his heartfelt ballads are now bittersweet, Humperdinck still finds joy in performing them for audiences today. There is no better feeling than walking on stage for him. He calls himself a thespian of song when he performs. Acting plays a part in this process, but reality comes through instead. He gives his all and reads the lyrics a little differently now especially since losing his wife. The emotion comes out more sincere as a result of that loss.

I am a ballad singer and I love, love singing ballads according to him. Nothing like a good romantic ballad touches the heart in this way. It puts people together for him. He feels responsible for putting people together through his music. When the final curtain eventually falls on his career he hopes those songs will continue bringing people together. His legacy is his music because it is timeless. He listens to the radio and watches content on his phone daily. He sees people in the past who had massive hits still viewed by the living today. That feels wonderful to him. That is the kind of legacy he wants to leave behind. He wants to leave a good taste in his career for everyone.
